Nowadays more and more people choose high gloss panel as their kitchen doors, because high gloss doors makes kitchen cabinets look modern and luxurious. When it refers to the basic material of kitchen doors, there are mainly mdf board, particle board and plywood board. Today let me Differences, Pros and Cons between the two kinds of material.

Painted Gloss MDF Board.

MDF Board : Medium Density Fiberboard.

MDF is an engineered wood which is similar to particle board, but it is high denser and much stronger. For high gloss uv mdf board, we choose good quality raw mdf as basic material press 2 side melamine paper onto raw mdf, then 6-8 times UV painting on the surface.

1. MDF is generally cheaper than plywood, so painted gloss mdf is a more affordable choice than gloss laminated plywood
2. The surface of mdf is more smooth, so it is a great substrate for painting. The painted gloss mdf board will be super even, high gloss and anti scratch in the surface.
3. UV paint is a chemical item, so it may slightly change when it is exposed to sunshine, so for uv painted gloss mdf board, the color stability is not as good as laminated gloss board.
4. Paint gloss MDF Board will soak up water and swell unless it has been sealed with edge banding very well. But laminated plywood is much better in water resistance.

 

Gloss Laminated Plywood.

Plywood is an engineered wood product, too. People press and bind sheets of wooden veneer together into one solid piece.
